Auld Lang Syne…

posted 16 Jun 2014 08:24 by Simon McKerrell

With reference to the blog post below re. early recordings, Morag Grant writes:

‘In the late 1870s, Auld Lang Syne was one of the songs Alexander Graham Bell used to demonstrate his new-fangled invention, and there is an 1890 recording probably made by Emile Berliner himself using his own new-fangled invention’.

thank you Morag, looking forward to hearing more on this topic.
For more information see my recent book: Focus: Scottish Traditional Music, 2016 (New York and London: Routledge).
