Conference Scottish music

The Call for Papers for ‘Understanding Scotland Musically’ the conference on the 21st October this year is coming along well. I’m really pleased that others have decided to pitch in and produce some quite exciting papers on Scottish music–so far I’ve had papers submitted on everything from how the fiddle history can be read, the use of Latin sounds in Scottish traditional music, the blurring (collapsing) boundaries between folk, popular and traditional in Scottish music, the interplay of linguistics and Scottish music, Scottish identity politics performed through music in drama, media and cultural policy in Scotland besides others.

The CFP closes on Friday–so if you would like to join us please submit your abstract soon!
